“The Doors Are Open — Help Us Keep Them That Way”
After nearly a year of closure due to water damage, the Ypsilanti Senior Center reopened its doors on February 27th 2026 with a celebration that reminded us just how powerful community can be.
More than 160 seniors, volunteers, neighbors, and community partners filled the center that day. Laughter filled the room, new connections were made, and friendships were renewed. Volunteers helped greet guests, set up tables and ensure that every person who walked through the door felt welcomed. It was more than a party — it was a powerful reminder that the Ypsilanti Senior Center is a place where community thrives.
But while the celebration marked an important milestone, it also marked the beginning of our next chapter.
The Ypsilanti Senior Center continues to be a vital gathering place where older adults can stay active, build friendships, and access meaningful programs that support their health and well-being. As we move forward, we are expanding programming focused on senior wellness, social connection, and intergenerational engagement.
One exciting example is our upcoming Intergenerational Service Day on April 16th, where students from Greenhills School in Ann Arbor will join seniors at the center to create a community mural and share conversations about life, learning, and bridging the gap between generations.
Programs like these are possible because of supporters like you.
Your generosity helps keep the doors open, sustain daily operations, and ensure that seniors in our community have a welcoming place to gather, learn, and thrive. As we continue rebuilding and growing, we invite you to be part of this next chapter.
Together, we can ensure that the Ypsilanti Senior Center remains a vibrant hub of connection, support, and opportunity for years to come.
Thank you for helping us keep the momentum going.
